I Did It!
Hello Courageous Thrivers!
I did it! I finished the manuscript for what I’m calling my “tiny, but mighty” book.
I’m waiting on some reader feedback so I can complete final edits and send it off for cover design and copywriting — but it’s basically done.
I’m proud of it, and I think it’s going to be helpful to people who want to make the world a better place, but have trouble just living in it half the time.
It’ll take a few more weeks (or months) to get it out into the world — and into your hands, if you want a copy — but it’s no longer just an idea.
Yay!
As I noted last week, I finished it with a different energy than how I’ve done things in the past.
More pleasure. Less pushing.
Though there was a bit of a push at the end, it felt more like the final stage of a birth — where pushing is the thing you need to do — as opposed to pushing the whole way through, which in life (as in birth) is actually unhelpful and potentially harmful.
Do you live your life in pushing energy most of the time — or its partner, dragging-through-mud energy?
I know what it’s like to have those tendencies.
And I know it doesn’t have to be that way.
That’s why I write. That’s why I coach.
Because I keep seeing how many of us are out there, stressed and frustrated and feeling life as heavy — when it doesn’t have to be.
I see so many of us using all our energy just to survive — when our radiance could light up and warm up and delight not just our own hearts and bodies, but our families and communities.
We could be co-creators of a different human reality.
That’s what I believe.
I’m living it more and more — and I’m seeing my clients live it too.
And I also know that when you’re stuck in stress or confusion, depression or overwhelm, the idea of living life with delight, health, and vitality can seem really elusive.
One way to begin is to start celebrating what’s already going right — especially what’s right about you.
I promise, there’s a whole lot.
What three tiny accomplishments can you acknowledge yourself for this week?
Hit reply and tell me, and I promise to dance in celebration for you.
I might even send you a video to prove it — and I guarantee, seeing me dance will crack a smile!
And if that’s not enough motivation, remember this:
Celebration of the good stuff — your tiny wins — helps dismantle oppressive systems that tell us we’re not good enough.
It’s a small, joyful rebellion.
A tiny example of how big, important, serious work can be filled with delight.
I invite you to try it by hitting reply.
Not sure you have anything to be proud of?
Did you get up today when you didn’t want to?
Did you have a hard conversation?
Did you feed your children?
Did you shower?
Did you move your body when you didn’t feel like it?
Did you stop moving and pay attention to yourself for a few minutes?
Nothing is too tiny.
One thing that helped me finish my book was knowing I wanted to celebrate with my oldest son — the one who missed Christmas because he got COVID — when he came to visit this weekend.
I finished the manuscript at 10pm Friday night.
He arrived Saturday morning.
We had steak and scotch Saturday night.
(He’s the one in the photo, in case you couldn’t guess.)
That’s it for today.
Next week I’ll have resources and all the things.
This week? Just celebration.
I look forward to hearing about yours.
Hit reply and make my day.
Deb
P.S. Honestly, I’m not on social media much. But the blogs are there so you can share them with people who might enjoy reading.
I’d love it if you would.
