Thrive for Equity

You have resources and you feel the responsibility of them.

You long to use them for good, and enjoy them without shame.

This is your moment.

As a well-resourced woman living at this moment in history, you have been given a unique task.

You might call it an anointing.  Or a calling. Or a quest — if you are inclined to think in terms of mythical, magical stories or archetypes.

I don’t know what your special mission is.

And you might not know it yet.

But when you choose to accept it, it will help shift the world from one characterized by violence, oppression, separation, fear and suffering into a world in which all humans thrive.

A world where we live in deep, loving relationship to each other, to the earth and all other beings.

You don’t need to be a hero.

Or a savior.

We don’t need any more of those.

Heroes need powerless victims to save.  And that’s not who your fellow humans are.

Besides, far too often, the idea of “saving” has been used as a justification for why certain people (and types of people) are in charge and others are expected to follow their orders, practice their customs, and even believe what they deem right to believe.

( I bet you’ve been on the wrong side of that set up more than once.)

You, Beloved Amazing One.

You are not here to be in that story.

You are here to craft a new one, alongside many others.

Special and unique in your quest, but not alone.

Sovereign and powerful in your own right, but not one who rules over or goes forth and conquers.

You are not one here to be who holds wealth as in “detains” or “grips” or even “maintains control over.”

You are one the one who holds your resources with great love and awe.

As a mother holds a child.

As a gardener holds a tender seedling.

As you hold a space of reverence and wonder in your heart for the beauty and power of Nature.

The women who work with me are wounded healers.  There’s no doubt about that.

By that I mean that what they have to offer the world comes out of their pain. It was forged in the fire.

What others may not see hidden behind the sparklyness of wealth are the family patterns and expectations that caused, and cause, harm.

Not because having ample financial (and other) resources is a problem — may that soon be the case for everyone!

But given the global context of white supremacist, colonialist, capitalist patriarchy holding wealth has come with some pretty significant strings attached.

We will face these painful facts head on, together.

But that’s not where we start.

We start by nurturing your deep inner peace and freedom to enjoy being alive. We start by cultivating your best life.

I’ve seen over and over the ways that having wealth can make it harder for humans to offer and experience the kind of unconditional love and nurturance that we all crave.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

But often it is.

Most of the women who are drawn to work with me struggle with deeply-rooted feelings of abandonment, rejection, unworthiness and lack of belonging.

Though they may travel to amazing places and have beautiful homes, they find it hard to give themselves permission to be fully and unapologetically themselves — even if, from the outside, it seems they have everything they need to live with no holds barred.

Many feel high levels of anxiety and stress, despite having ample resources to invest in lots of self-care, spiritual retreats, delicious healthy food and yoga classes.

They are women, and gender-non-conforming humans, who know the power that access to ample financial resources and white-skinned privilege can bring.

They also feel the constraints and pressures of holding that level of privilege, along with a deeply sensitive and empathetic heart.

And on top of all that, they feel acutely the impact of being in a body that is the target of oppression and coercive control due to gender.

I get it. I’ve been there. And I have good news for you.

The choice in front of you isn’t “sacrifice everything” or “enjoy your life.”

There are an infinite number of ways that you can find peace, belonging, delight in living while also facing hard truths about the inequalities of our current context, how we ended up here and what it will take to right the ship.

In our year together we will work with all the both-ands

Why me as your partner in this work?

I know firsthand how money and the ways it’s used, thought about and shared (or not) in families with generational wealth can result in both great joy and fun, and incredible hurt, heartbreak, isolation, and stress.

My grandmother and great-grandmother both attended Wellesley College and though I didn’t grow up with a “silver spoon in my mouth”, I do have a silver baby cup with my name engraved on it, and my grandmother’s silver spoon with hers.

But I don’t live at the center of the elite social circles that many of my clients live in.

Honestly, that’s part of what I offer.  I am outside of that world, and I’m not particularly drawn to or charmed by it, but I’m close enough to have a sense of the challenges.

I offer a space in which you get to be fully you, no need to perform.

You will be held with deep respect and compassion, but not coddled.

Because I know you can to experience a level of liberation that is really hard to find amidst all the social expectations of your class.

And I certainly know what it’s like to hold many, many privileges in our current system– white, cis-gender, highly educated, heterosexual, able-bodied, English-speaking, grew up Christian and never having to worry about how to pay the bills.

I also know what it’s like to be a woman – and how the poison of internalized sexism mixes with these privileges in unique ways that can make taking courageous, joy-filled action in service of what we believe in incredibly difficult.

In fact, I’ve found that women with lots of privileges, and sensitive hearts, tend to experience a particular kind of hidden trauma that is hard to address because it’s hard to see it.

Imagine feeling at peace at the end of the day.

Knowing that you did what was yours to do.

And loved doing it.

You can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are deeply loved and that your presence in this world matters.

You can feel crystal clear about what is yours to do.

You can take action from your heart.

And when you do not only will you experience the incredible delight of living in a diverse, delightful community of loving, joyful humans.

But you will also bring about changes in the world that humanity is longing for.

If you want this,  I’m here for it.  Let’s get started.

You’re invited into protected and judgement-free space where you can:

  • Increase your sense of belonging and connection while you also grow in awareness about the unearned privileges you benefit from, without getting judged or shamed,

  • Get a clear picture of all the resources you have (not just financial ones) so you can start using them for good AND enjoying the abundance you have access to without guilt.

  • Get clear about how you can to use your resources for good in ways that light you up, regardless of other people’s expectations of you, so you feel delight in your responsibilities instead of weighed down by them.

  • Experience a deeper sense of peace as you expand your emotional capacity to face painful realities, without getting taken out by your feelings, so you can live your values without burning out.

  • Do meaningful work that increases your energy, joy and inner peace, rather than adding another heavy burden to your long list of responsibilities and obligations.

  • Walk this new both/and path of joy and justice with support, so you build momentum and feel the confidence that comes from knowing you did what was yours to do in this moment.
