Thriving for Equity Consulting for White Leaders and Healers working to create racial equity

We work with White and White-presenting leaders of organizations who are early in their journey towards creating a culture of inclusion, belonging and equity.

After our initial consultation, we pull from our network of collaborators to provide the right team for you.

We specialize in working with wellness/spiritual/life-coaching/healing communities. We help them transition to and maintain a culture in which inclusion, equity and increasing diversity are woven into the fabric of the community and all members are adept in supporting these values and goals.

We use racial equity as an entry point in addressing oppression’s impact more broadly, understanding that we all have intersectional identities.

Packages are tailored to your individual needs, take into account the size of your organization. They range from $2000-$30,000.

Key components that we will typically cover in the course of our time together: 

·      Anti-bias training – how to recognize it, how to decrease it

·      How to have difficult conversations about racism training (Racial Justice from the Heart model, multi-racial team)

·      Personal racial Identity development work within the context of intersectionality

·      Body-based practices that support individual and group capacity for sustainable investment in ongoing healing and justice work

·      Exploration of hidden power dynamics that are leading to inequitable experiences and outcomes for members.

  • Letting go of shame and guilt on the path to effective racial equity work (especially for White folks)

  • Analysis of current culture and practices - we suggest using materials from Whiteness at Work created by the Adaway Group.

  • We partner with you to co-create educational materials or trainings for onboarding new community members, creating an organizational culture in which BIPOC members to enter the space feeling empowered to say no to unnecessary emotional labor and White and White-presenting members enter ready for the ongoing process of receiving feedback, growing in awareness and skill and becoming supports for racial equity in the organization.

If you are a White leader who is already working with BIPOC DEIJ consultants and you want additional services that they don’t want to provide, we are happy to partner.

Our expectation is that you talk to your current DEIJ team first before hiring us in this support role.

Some services that are commonly requested are:

  • holistic individual coaching support for you to increase your capacity to effectively apply and sustain what you are learning from the DEIJ team, while decreasing your personal stress and increasing your joy in the process.

  • ongoing potentially long-term, small group and individual support and consultation for White people in your community who are growing in awareness (and going through the typical messy aspects of this process), so that they have a space in which to make mistakes, and cause less harm to the BIPOC members of the community as they learn, and grow.  

Thriving for Equity Partnership with BIPOC consultants and organizational leaders working to create racial equity

Deb works as a partner to support BIPOC leaders who are leading their own DEIJ work, but don’t want to do all themselves, and would like a White partner to lead aspects of the work specific to White community members.

We can also bring in additional BIPOC partners to support your work, or work with you and others who are already in your organization.

Packages are tailored to your individual needs, and take into account the size of the organization. They start at $2000. They range from $2000-$25,000.

Some possibilities for partnership with BIPOC leaders are:

  • We partner with you to co-create educational materials or trainings for onboarding new community members, creating an organizational culture in which BIPOC members to enter the space feeling empowered to say no to unnecessary emotional labor and White and White-presenting members enter ready for the ongoing process of receiving feedback, growing in awareness and skill and becoming supports for racial equity in the organization.

  • Deb provides ongoing and potentially long-term, small group and individual support and consultation for White people in your community who are growing in awareness (and going through the typical messy aspects of this process), so that they have a space in which to make mistakes, and cause less harm to the BIPOC members of the community as they learn, and grow.  

  • We offer trainings for you and your team on your choice of topics, including but not limited to those listed below, on any of the key components listed to the left or others we discover together.

  • Deb and colleagues offer movement sessions to help people to practice radical acceptance, let go of stress and to move emotions through their bodies in support of the DEI work you are doing.

  • Or other supports unique to your personal and organizational needs

 

How we do our work together

  • In depth reflective analysis of your organization’s current needs and creation of a template for moving the work forward

  • 2-hour, half-day or full day trainings or retreats (depending on what works best for the community/organization) scheduled at least once per quarter throughout the year.  These can be in-person or virtual

  • Facilitated book/article/podcast discussions related to the needs of the community - including facilitation of discussions for organizations who have invested in Whiteness at Work content and want expert facilitation.

  • Ongoing small group discussions in racial affinity groups and in mixed-identity groups

  • Movement and meditation sessions

  • 1:1 consultations with you and your leadership team·    

One-off trainings (not recommended unless you are getting other DEI support)

In multi-racial teams, we offer specific trainings such as:

  • How to have difficult conversations about racism training (Racial Justice from the Heart model) – 8 hour training

  • Body-Mind Support for Social Justice work

  • Other individual trainings on request.

  • One-time trainings start at $1500
